BALTIC OPEN VUSHF CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this open contest is to enhance the activity of VHF/UHF/SHF amateurs in the Baltic countries and in the Baltic Sea region to establish as many contacts as possible during the contest. All contest’s participants may work each other without any limitation (yet see the exception below). Our goal is to have all three Baltic countries active on VHF/UHF/SHF frequencies on the same date and time.
NB! Due to the ongoing Russian military invasion in Ukraine and Russia using the territory of Belarus for its military actions, contacts with amateur radio stations of Russia and Belarus are not valid for points in this contest as well as the logs from these countries are not accepted for results purpose.

GENERAL RULES OF THE CONTEST:
DATE: 16th of August 2025 (always 3rd Saturday in August)
TIME: 15:00 – 21:00 UTC
BANDS: 144 MHz, 432 MHz, 1296 MHz

CATEGORIES:
• SO – Single operator
• MO – Multi operators

CONTACTS: All operations should be performed in accordance with IARU Region 1 band
plans. Any station may be worked, but to classify, at least 1 Baltic country QSO is necessary.
Contacts via active repeaters, MS and EME are not valid!
MODES: CW, SSB, FM

EXCHANGE: Signal report RS(T), serial number (starting 001 on each band) and 6 digits WWL
locator. Example “599 001 KP00AA”. Both callsigns and the full exchange must be sent,
received and logged.

TRANSMIT RULE:
For SO stations only one transmitted signal is allowed regardless of mode at any given time;
For MO stations only one transmitted signal per band is allowed regardless of mode at any given
time;
DUPE RULE: You can work each station only once per band, regardless of mode.

SCORING:
• 1 point/kilometer on 144 MHz
• 2 points/kilometer on 432 MHz
• 4 points/kilometer on 1296 MHz
QSO distance between two stations located in the same identical WWL location (exampleKP00AA to KP00AA) count:
• 3 points on 144 MHz
• 6 points on 432 MHz
• 12 points on 1296 MHz
NB! For the computer scoring purposes the IARU recommended conversion factor of 111,2 km/degree must be used.

TOTAL SCORE: Station’s total score is a sum of points of each worked band.
For example: 144 MHz - 15 000 points; 432 MHz - 10 000 points; 1296 MHz - 5000 points.
So, the total sum is 15 000 + 10 000 + 5000 = 30000 points.

ASSISTANCE:
• Stations are allowed to use web-applications (like ON4KST), but only callsign, frequency
and QSO-timing info is allowed. Sharing information like RST, serial number or WWL
grid is not allowed! Such cases are equal to disqualification!
• Stations can use DX clusters, but self-spotting is not allowed!
• The use of non-amateur means to solicit a QSO is not allowed (telephone, web posts or
social media apps).

AWARDS:
- TOP 3 overall scores in both categories (SO and MO) will be awarded with plaques;
- TOP 3 scores of non-Baltic stations (if not among overall top scores) in both categories (SO
and MO) will be awarded with plaques;
- Country winners will receive a diploma.
Note: If there are less than 4 participants in some category, only the first will get awarded.
LOGS: The logs in REG1TEST (EDI) format must be submitted by August 31-st the latest!
Only electronic logs are accepted. Make sure that the log contains station’s callsign and contest
category. For multi operator stations add callsigns of all the operators.
We prefer to receive 3 separate logs, one for each band (i.e. 144, 432, 1296MHz) – but only
separate logs (if multi-band operation) can be uploaded to the web-site (see below!). If your
log program creates one joint log file and you are not able to make 3 separate files, send your log
to the e-mail address given below. We would like to get all possible logs! Also, if you can not
create an EDI format log, we also accept logs in Adif format. Make sure you have your own
callsign and grid shown on each QSO line then!
Information about antennas, transceivers and output power is also welcome.
Please send your log to one of the following two destinations:

1. Upload it to web-site https://es7arl.carlnet.ee/fd - multi band logs must be separated into single band files (see above!)
2. Send your log by e-mail to Tato e-mailová adresa je chráněna před spamboty. Pro její zobrazení musíte mít povolen Javascript. with your callsign in the subject. All types of log-files can be sent to this address.

CU in the Contest!
